This is the VIRTUAL option for those attending the conference virtually. If you are attending in-person on the Springfield Campus, do not add this session to your schedule. In-person attendees should add the IN-PERSON option to their schedule.
Session Length
This is a 1-hour and 50-minute session. If you add this session to your schedule, you will not be able to add other morning breakout sessions to your schedule.
Session Description
Approximately 1 in 2 people will experience trauma in their lifetime, which can profoundly impact learning. This session explores the effects of trauma, how it may present in an academic setting, and how faculty can respond effectively. Additionally, research highlights the intersection of trauma and neurodivergence, both of which can shape students’ experiences and access to education. Participants will gain practical, trauma-informed strategies to create an inclusive learning environment that supports engagement, self-regulation, and equitable opportunities for all students.
